Loves honey

This little guy is a dormouse. I saved him from my cats. Looking out the window, I saw two cats playing with something brown that hopped in the grass. I knew I had to rescue it. Running outdoors, I hissed, sending away the cats, and picked up and cuddled the frightened animal. I put him in a box with hay, walnuts, and water to play it safe and see if he was injured. He wasn’t eating, so I fed him honey diluted with water. In a few days, he had nibbled a piece of walnut. He’d wait for me at nightfall for his daily treat – honey. I decided it was time to free him when I was sure he had fully recovered.

Questo piccoletto è un ghiro. L’ho salvato dai miei gatti. Correndo all’aperto, sibilai, mandando via i gatti, e presi in braccio l’animale spaventato coccolandolo.

As a child, I spent my summer holidays by the swamp catching tadpoles and other creepy critters or running after wild animals. I wanted to become a veterinarian when I grew up. But destiny turned my life around - I moved to Italy, where I obtained my BS in Environmental Sciences and Territorial Management. When not working in our family-run business, I write, read, play with clay, doodle, and go on scavenger hunts in the woods, followed by my six cats.
