Matchmaker

I don’t know if this happens to you, but I sometimes receive friendship requests from widowers or men seeking a companion. I usually check out their Facebook page before accepting the friendship. It was heartbreaking when I came upon a widower with two daughters in their teens to take care of. I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes.

If I do accept their request, I tell them right off the bat that I’m happily married. I would like to help them find the perfect match, but I’m not a matchmaker.

Matchmaker gave me an idea, which brings me back to my debut picture book ‘Jurassic Rat’ coming this spring.

Rat, the main character in the book is clumsy and a lone father. He goes out every day, risking his life among dinosaurs to find food for his family.

I know it’s early yet but what if there were a sequel to the first book where Rat accidentally meets a SHE Rat. What would happen?

As a child, I spent my summer holidays by the swamp catching tadpoles and other creepy critters or running after wild animals. I wanted to become a veterinarian when I grew up. But destiny turned my life around - I moved to Italy, where I obtained my BS in Environmental Sciences and Territorial Management. When not working in our family-run business, I write, read, play with clay, doodle, and go on scavenger hunts in the woods, followed by my six cats.
