2020 Weekly Photo Challenge

Theme: animal/plant

I hope you’re all healthy and safe during lockdown. A little info about this pic. I often use my Victure trail camera to see who is lurking in my backyard and making the dogs bark. This is a beautiful male Roe deer. They hang out on our property. The same night I captured a wild boar and a fox. I love nature and you?

I’m a nature-loving adventurer and children’s book author whose life has been an exhilarating journey. Originally hailing from Ottawa, Canada, I developed a deep fascination for wildlife while chasing after wild animals in the swamps. Although I initially aspired to become a veterinarian, my path took an unexpected turn when I relocated to Italy. In Italy, I pursued my passion for nature by earning a BS in Environmental Sciences and Territorial Management. This educational experience further ignited my love for writing about the natural world and its diverse wildlife. I’m an active member of several professional organizations, including SCBWI, 12x12PB Challenge, and the Children’s Book Academy. Constantly seeking growth and connection within the industry, I engage with fellow writers and storytellers. Despite my affinity for all creatures, I humorously admit that my nine cats can be the most challenging animals to handle. When I’m not wrangling my feline friends, I spend my time writing, doodling, playing with clay, gardening, and exploring the enchanting Italian countryside with my husband. I also love preparing homemade pasta, showcasing my culinary skills.

    1. Wise fox, when there is movememt the infrared lights go on. Animals are sensitive to light.

  1. Wow – what fun and to see such creatures in your yard! It is a glimpse into the nocturnal world of animals. Is that first photo from your back yard region too?

    1. Sorry for the late reply. These animals roam around my backyard. I have a trail camera that I set up and leave in the woods. It detects movement and snaps the shots day and night. Thanks for commenting. Take care.

    2. I thought I had replied to your question. My apologies. Yes, the first photo was from my backyard.

          1. Blogging is a learning curve. Don’t give up. It is worth the investment of your time. You can always ask questions if you need help too.

          2. Thank you Amanda. I’ll try to post regularly. Would tidbits of my everyday life be interesting? ex. We adopted three stray kittens and they are literally tearing my house apart, or talk about what my GC 4yo invents and expects I play pretend? This social distancing is hard on him, no playmates and grandma can’t always crawl through a tunnel or swing from a branch, etc.

          3. Largely, it depends on how the tidbits are written. Writing them in the way to make them interesting is the key, I think. Use humour, irony, or an informational/questioning tone. Those are the posts that get the most interest for me. Eg: my latest post about a short conversation through the car window. All the best! I hope you get as much enjoyment as I have from blogging.
