A bit about this pic. Shapes– Cobwebs have always fascinated me. I’m not scared of spiders, and neither should you. I keep a few in my home to get rid of insects, like the Adams family. Spiders eat lots of pestiferous insects. They are brilliant architects. Since they don’t have ears, they use the tactile hairs on their legs to decipher if there is a threat or a meal close by. Amazing, don’t you think?
Why am I talking about spiders? I have to thank Vivian Kirkfield for her #50 Precious word Contest. I won a critique with Robyn McGrath, she/her for my International Cobweb Contest. She was terrific and was straightforward in pointing out the weaknesses and strengths in the manuscript. Her feedback was invaluable, and I have a new draft, which will go through a few more rounds of critiques before I can query an agent or publisher.
My picture books are informational, which means they blend nonfiction with fiction, teaching children about a topic. Lerner books have published books that fall into this category, such as Love, Agnes: Postcards from an Octopus. Brilliant!
Un po’ di questa foto. Il tema – Forme- Le ragnatele mi hanno sempre affascinata. Non ho paura dei ragni, e nemmeno tu dovresti. Ne tengo alcuni in casa per sbarazzarmi degli insetti, come la famiglia Adams. I ragni mangiano molti insetti pestiferi. Sono architetti brillanti. Dal momento che non hanno orecchie, usano i peli tattili sulle gambe per decifrare se c’è una minaccia o un pasto nelle vicinanze.
Perché parlo di ragni? Devo ringraziare Vivian Kirkfield per il suo Concorso di #50 parole preziose. Ho vinto una critica con la signora Robyn McGrath, per il mio International Cobweb Contest. È stata eccezionale ed è stata chiara nel sottolineare i punti deboli e i punti di forza del manoscritto. Il suo feedback è stato inestimabile e ho una nuova bozza, che passerà attraverso qualche altro giro di critiche prima di poter interrogare un agente o un editore.
I miei libri illustrati sono informativi, il che significa che fondono saggistica e narrativa, insegnando ai bambini un argomento. I libri di Lerner hanno pubblicato libri che rientrano in questa categoria, come Love, Agnes: Postcards from an Octopus.

It’s part of the process. I will survive. I remember when my daughter was in elementary school and her teacher called her a snail. I told my daughter, show her you aren’t, be the first to give in your assignment or whatever it was at the time. It worked. I am determined to get published and whoever rejected my work may one day regret having rejected my project/s. We’ll see!? Rejections will never hurt me, they’ll only make me work harder to reach my goals. I’ll plant my sweet potatoe slips tommorrow. How are yours coming along?

A little, but you have to take the sticks and stones if you want to excel in life.
I missed this one. Not a huge fan of real spiders, but if they spin their webs outdoors, I’m fine. I do like fictional spiders, though. (Thanks to E.B. White!)
