Pic of the Week 2021

Theme: Garden Bliss

From top left to right: Periwinkle, Iris, Guelder rose tree, Weigela florida, Allium,  Clematis.

I took these photographs to remember their location on our grounds. We have three acres of land with woods, fields, and spring water. We’ve lived here for 40 years, and I have to leave all the plants and shrubs I had planted and the wild animals. I’ll miss the wild boars, roe deer, the clever fox that loves to eat my chickens, and many other creatures that lurk in my garden. Time flies, and I don’t have the strength to keep the grounds anymore. Within a few years, we will be moving to a nearby town with less land and no woods. Therefore, I will reproduce most of the shrubs and collect the bulbs and whatnot and replant them in our new home.

As a child, I spent my summer holidays by the swamp catching tadpoles and other creepy critters or running after wild animals. I wanted to become a veterinarian when I grew up. But destiny turned my life around - I moved to Italy, where I obtained my BS in Environmental Sciences and Territorial Management. When not working in our family-run business, I write, read, play with clay, doodle, and go on scavenger hunts in the woods, followed by my six cats.
