Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2023 – BCBF 2023 Italia

Meeting fellow authors and illustrators and seeing familiar faces at the SCBWI booth was a pleasure. The fair was beyond my expectations. After COVID, it was a breath of fresh air. People were smiling and eager to make a few sales and sign book deals.

I tried to find out how to sell translation rights for my picture book but was told I needed an agent or my publisher to negotiate the translation rights. But, they also said to try and contact the publisher directly with a proposal and not give up if all fails.

The KidLit community is very supportive, and I am eager to query again.

I wish you all the best in your publishing quest.

Oh! A reminder – Don’t buy too many signed books at the fair as I did. My suitcase weighed a ton.

I want to share a few pictures for those who couldn’t attend the Book Fair.

As a child, I spent my summer holidays by the swamp catching tadpoles and other creepy critters or running after wild animals. I wanted to become a veterinarian when I grew up. But destiny turned my life around - I moved to Italy, where I obtained my BS in Environmental Sciences and Territorial Management. When not working in our family-run business, I write, read, play with clay, doodle, and go on scavenger hunts in the woods, followed by my six cats.
