Be Yourself.

I worked at a pharmacy years ago and everyday a guy came by to buy the newspaper. It was winter and he wore a wool hat and never ever smiled. He was cute although much older than I was at the time. I hated to see him so sad every morning. So… one morning I gathered my courage and spoke out. “I’m sure you’d look good with a smile.” Guess what? He had a wonderful smile on his face and he was even cuter. As an afterthought, would my boss fire me? No he didn’t, and the same guy always had a smile on his face when he walked into the pharmacy after that episode. It takes so little effort to smile and make people feel better. Stop frowning. You’ll get more wrinkles! Did you know that?

As a child, I spent my summer holidays by the swamp catching tadpoles and other creepy critters or running after wild animals. I wanted to become a veterinarian when I grew up. But destiny turned my life around - I moved to Italy, where I obtained my BS in Environmental Sciences and Territorial Management. When not working in our family-run business, I write, read, play with clay, doodle, and go on scavenger hunts in the woods, followed by my six cats.
